Investigator Job Description:

Operation Liberate is seeking investigators to serve on our project in Costa Rica.  The investigators will be responsible for insuring the project team’s success in achieving its goals of rescuing victims of sex trafficking and exploitation in that country by collaboration with police, other law enforcement officials and NGO partners.  Qualified candidates will have substantial experience in law enforcement or intelligence work. 

Responsibilities 

  • Work with Director of Investigations to develop effective strategies and tactics to identify victims of sex trafficking and exploitation and insure that necessary evidence is gathered to charge and prosecute the perpetrators
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement for the safe and successful removal of victims from various multiple locations where they have been sexually exploited
  • Insure confidential identity as an investigator and use extreme discernment in all circumstances
  • Conduct surveillance and work with investigations team to document investigations and prepare reports for the case management system and local law enforcement and justice officials
  • Maintain audio and video surveillance equipment
  • Testify in court trials when required.

Skills and Experience 

  • Fluency in oral and written communications in English; Fluency in Spanish preferred
  • At least 5 years in investigations in law enforcement or intelligence gathering preferred
  • Emotionally mature; no criminal record
  • Willing to work under hazardous conditions and in dangerous situations
  • Licensed and able to drive a four-wheeled vehicle
  • Computer literacy preferred and/or willing to learn
  • Ability to work independently.

*What is a statement of faith? 
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how it is relevant to your involvement with Operation Liberate. The statement can either be incorporated into your cover letter or submitted as a separate document.  It should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
